President's Message

Dear Reader,

Welcome to the first edition of OSS E-Patrika!

The brainchild of our Literature, Media and Web (LMW) Chapter, we are proud to bring to you our thoughts and stories on a regular basis, providing a channel for all members to share their words, pictures and even some cooking secrets. Thanks to the hard work and support of the entire team and all valued contributors, we are proud to kickstart our journey covering our beloved Ganesh Puja.

I have personally been associated with the Ganesh Puja event right from the very start, and would like to share some of my experience and thoughts.

Odia Society of Singapore has been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in Singapore for over a decade now. During Puja time comes, we see a lot of enthusiasm in people as they volunteer for the Puja activities; be it in preparing and supplying the bhogas for all devotees or providing financial support thru donations. The entire program looks a little challenging in the beginning, but runs so smooth, it feels as though someone is controlling the event using a remote control.

Since last year, the Cultural Team has taken the program to new heights by organising a Bhajan Sandhya on the same day evening and seeing a lot of positive involvement and feedback from the members.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the participation, the donors for their kind donations, our sponsors (Joyalukkas and Malabar), Shree Lakshminarayan Temple for allowing us to use the venue, our guests from Odisha in Bhajan Sandhya and the Cultural Chapter Members & volunteers from OSS who planned and executed the program successfully.

We hope you enjoy the stories, secrets and moments captured in the E-Patrika, and look forward to the continued support from our members.

On behalf of the OSS committee, a big thank you to all.

Yours,
Alok Panda
President, OSS
